London Mining Dishes 250 Scholarships to Port Loko District in Sierra Leone
As part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) of a credible mining entity and also as a commemoration of the Day of the African Child on June 16 2010, one of Sierra Leones’ leading mining companies London Mining Company (LMC) has dished out 250 (two hundred and fifty) scholarships to students of Maforki, Port Loko, Northern Sierra Leone. According to the Communications Officer of London Mining Company, Madam Josephine Saidu, the scholarships offered targets students in primary and secondary schools and also tertiary institutions across the District.

In Sierra Leone, Commissioning Ceremony Of The Bo-Kenema High Way
Just after the official commissioning of the EU funded Masiaka-Bo Highway Rehabilitation on the 29th May 2010, President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma has also officially commissioned the World Bank/Government funded Bo-Kenema Highway Rehabilitation on the 5th and 6th June 2010 in the Kenema and Bo Districts. At Blama in the Kenema District where the actual commissioning ceremony of the Bo-Kenema Highway started, Mr. President said he was very much clear about the programmes he would undertake to bring change to his country.

SLRA Compensates Affected Property Owners In The Eastern Province in Sierra Leone
A whooping sum of Le 1.8 million was paid out to property owners along the SLRA right of way on the Kenema-Pendembu Highway last week end by the government of Sierra Leone through SLRA. The head of the team, Mr. Hassan Turay informed the gathering of government’s Agenda for Change, which included infrastructural development with the issues of good road network in the country a priority. He underscored the socio-economic importance of an improved road network system within the district, and their respective chiefdoms in particular. He therefore appealed to the recipients to accept the compensation not from the view point of the market values of the properties but as their individual sacrifice for the sake of national development.

Chinese Railway Group Takes Over Wilkinson Road Project in Sierra Leone
The Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) on June 12th 2010 signed and handed over the widening of Wilkinson Road project to Chinese Company, China Railway Seventh Group Company Limited (CRSG) in an auspicious ceremony that took place at SLRA PWD Kissy Headquarters in Freetown. Addressing the gathering the Road Asset Manager/ Chief Project Engineer of the Wilkinson Road Project Madam Memunatu Kumba Jalloh noted that the widening project starts from Lumley Police Station to the Congo Cross Bridge close to the Youyi Building with a length of 5.2KM and a width of about 7M which will upon completion provide a dual carriageway (two lanes in each direction) with a width 20.74M.
