Scenes from Law Courts at Yesterday's Trial of Haja Afsatu Kabba in Sierra Leone
Scenes from the Law Courts at yesterday's commencement of trial of Haja Afsatu Kabba. They depict State operatives within the Judiciary and Police, breaching the indicted woman's constitutional rights to a free, fair and open trial. Even the worst Treason trials in Sierra Leone have been held in Public. The cocaine trial never saw this amount of security presence and sheer brute force as was displayed yesterday at the Law Courts. The persistent harassment of supporters of the indicted woman did not affect the turn-out of her supporters at the Law Courts. If anything, yesterday recorded an even bigger crowd of Afsatu Kabba supporters at the Law Courts than the previous hearing. The supporters, like numerous journalists were blocked from entering the Law Court Building. However, Awareness Times Publisher and her able, well-trained, skilled reporter, Bampia James Bundu Jnr. were savvy enough to by-pass the barricades, enter the Law Courts right into the well of the Courtroom from where we bring you some of the photos.... March 2009 Elections Violence against SLPP in Gendema, Southern Province
Some photographs do not need words as they speak for themselves. The wounded, bleeding gentleman shown in these four photos on this page is Mr. Ahmed Ken, the SLPP Youth Leader for the Southern Province who was macheted on his head and turso by alleged APC hired thugs in full view of well known Senior Police Officers during the March 2009 Gendema Local Council Elections that APC was to subsequently win after many residents did not vote since they had fled the fighting.

Sierra Leone's President's Regime is following in Siaka Stevens' Footsteps
It was classic during the days of late President Siaka Stevens of Sierra Leone. A critic who was proving to be too much of a thorn in the flesh, would get set-up with one crime or the other and taken to the Pademba Road Prisons to languish with the fullest support of the corrupt Judiciary. Well, the current President Ernest Bai Koroma had promised that he would be taking the country back to the days when his mentor, Siaka Stevens used to rule and this is what is now happening. Critics and Non-conformists are being set up on a daily basis. The case of the Publisher's bodyguard is just one of numerous such examples that abound today in Sierra Leone. The only difference is that this one has gone awry at the hands of the Koroma Regime. CLICK ABOVE LINK FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC DISPLAY OF DELIBERATE PUBLIC INCITEMENT FROM THE PRESIDENTIAL TEAM.
