The People have spoken in Sierra Leone: If it hurts so badly, go Butt a Cotton Tree
Which event do you think made a more lasting impression on the President in last one year? My speedy correction of Global Times malicious report of a Presidential Bodyguard being involved in 'assassination attempt' on Maada Bio or my proactive steps to stem underwear insults thrown at me by the president's media team? Anyway, the People have spoken. The President has smiled. VOX POPULI VOX DEI. The Voice of the People is the Voice of God. If it hurts them bad, they can go BUTT any nearby cotton tree...

Sama Banya’s Obsession with Sexually Explicit Innuendoes and Insults in Sierra Leone Newspapers
In his latest article, Sama Banya is again exhibiting his obsession with writing sexually explicit insults and innuendoes but I do not really blame him. I blame the so-called Editors who do not exercise editorial oversight over what they publish but just reproduce Sama Banya’s gutter materials he spews out. If they had cross-checked, they would have learnt from me that I have been to Kailahun town twice in my whole life; the last being my recent trip to Yenga and the first during the Tom Nyuma elections campaign in 2008. On none of those times was I ever bundled out for whatever reason.

WEBSITE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN RESOLVED
Our website problems which developed when the server got overloaded by too many visitors, have now been all resolved. It appeared that the Al Jazeera news report activated so much interest immediately it was aired that thousands of people tried to come to Awareness Times at the same time, thus forcing the server to shut itself down automatically. Our webhost then refused to allow us access to update the website until we re-negotiated terms with them. This caused an unusual delay in updating the website for which we apologise to all readers - especially at these news-worthy times.. Our webmasters have concluded updating yesterday (THURSDAY) edition and are now trying to see if they can update today's (FRIDAY) edition.

From Sierra Leone's Yenga to Tunisia & Back: Personal Reflection & Some Advisory Tips For SLPP
Yes, I have scored many firsts in the field of journalism in Sierra Leone but for now, nothing, (I repeat, NOTHING) has given the thrill of satisfaction I got from meeting the inhabitants of Yenga and various officials (Customs, Immigration, Phyto-Sanitary, etc. etc) as well as getting the opportunity to video-tape them for my upcoming informative documentary to be aired over Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation. My awesome video team in Kenema (Foday Bayoh & Paul Lamin) yesterday told me that they have finished editing the raw footage we shot together and I will soon be meeting with them to finalise the editing in order to educate people on the true picture of what Yenga has been all about for the last 17 years and what caused who to do what and when over the last 17 years. Trust me, it is going to be a very revealing piece of journalistic work. Meanwhile, I remain the only woman in History of Sierra Leone to have singlehandedly published a daily newspaper for a period spanning an excess of 6 years now. No mean feat.

As Global Times Run Scared...Cowards Die Many Times before their deaths
Awareness Times can authoritatively reveal that last weekend, Global Times received an email from Sylvia Blyden saying she was leaving town and giving them two weeks to compile their evidence to justify their numerous published nastiness against her; which evidence, she says they should prepare to submit to the Independent Media Commission on her return to Freetown. Rather than doing just that, they are using the period of her absence to misbehave and try to drag other decent persons into their rudeness including our bereaved editor who just lost his mum. This is cowardly and despicable.

Stinking Journalism versus Journalism with Integrity in Sierra Leone
Global Times alleges they possess a copy of the Shears-Moses Report and laments Sylvia Blyden has not commented on what they have in their possession. Now, if they take a careful look at what they are calling the Shears-Moses report including mistakes and errors therein as well as bottom of Page 21 and its continuation into Page 22, they will realise it was a rough draft that had not yet been finalised. It is not the final version that was handed over which is why the places for signatures bear nobody‘s signature on them! How can any serious journalist comment on an unsigned and unauthenticated 'leaked report' like that?

The Public Apology from Sierra Leone Peoples Party Newspaper

The SLPP's Security & Intelligence Wing must then be Insane
Last week, Mr. Jacob Jusu Saffa (aka JJ BLOOD), the former National Secretary-General of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) issued a press statement in which he lambasted that if anyone alleges he had gone to the residence of V.P. Sam-Sumana, that person must be either “insane” and/or “mentally unwell” and/or “a patient of Dr. Nahim”. See Page 6 for his release alongside the original article. We will deal extensively with the issue of some of the points he raises during our proposed Series on ‘The Rise & Fall of a Bloody Hustler’. For today’s edition, we are taking a look at the SLPP’s Security & Intelligence Wing of the party which was actually created by J.J. BLOOD and which is one of the sources for our article on J.J. Blood’s visit to Sam-Sumana family residence.

Can Usu Boie Save his Father’s Party? - REPRODUCED BY POPULAR DEMAND
This article, which is from the pen of Sierra Leone's most formidable and truthful journalist, Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, is being reproduced by popular demand. Our attention has been drawn to a joke of a Press Statement by J.J. Saffa which we will properly handle in tomorrow's edition. The question to be asked is whether the entire SLPP Security & Intelligence Network which was created by Saffa himself, are suffering from mental problems as they are amongst the sources who witnessed as J.J. Saffa entered and left Vice President Sam-Sumana's house that day. MEANWHILE, PLEASE CLICK ABOVE LINK TO READ OUR POPULAR ARTICLE ON SUSPECTED BLACKMAILING TACTICS OF J.J. SAFFA USING THE UNITY NEWSPAPER AS A SOURCE OF INCOME.

Sylvia Blyden Responds to a Genuinely Concerned Sierra Leone Citizen
So, what will you now say after viewing these photos? Have I declared for Ernest Koroma's candidacy simply because we hugged each other in Port Loko yesterday August 30th 2011 and this was shown live over National Television? (SMILE). Am I suddenly a die-hard fan of President Koroma? I hope I have been able to reassure you that this newspaper has been and will continue to be a very independent newspaper but which equally so reserves the right to ensure that no-one working here becomes an easy physical target for those who are upset with the contents of what is published herein. We will fight back in the best way possible and we will do so within the boundaries of the laws of the land especially Criminal Libel Laws of Sierra Leone...

Julius Maada Bio is Legitimate Sierra Leone Brigadier – NONSENSE!
...In which case of insistence on a non-existent ‘Brigadier’ title to address Julius Maada Bio, a presidential hopeful, the next question will be whether Sierra Leone is ready for another round of neurotic leadership that sees drugged-up ‘Brigadiers’ and the likes, slicing off the body parts of innocent citizens, including a woman, before pouring acid on them and burying them in mass graves! Recall how the neurotic ‘Field Marshall’ Idi Amin Dada used to slice off body parts of his victims...

Email Exchange between Awareness Times and SLPP-NA Scribe
Murtada, I will recommend you make the apology and leave it at JUST THAT. Your 'lecture' on what becomes a front page headline is not appreciated from this end. Anyway, you are not fooling anyone. Your 'semantics' was a deliberate attempt and a quick glance at the following extract from a recent Global Times interview will explain why you guys tried to do what you did. One can only wonder what will happen to your party's efforts at reconciliation with the mentality as espoused by Dr. Bundu still haunting your mindset. Our role as true journalists in this country is to figure out subterranean issues that have a potential to misinform and break these issues down to understandable analysis for the common man to chew on... Sierra Leone Opinion: JJ Blood Should Go Quietly...
If Mr. Saffa believes this newspaper published a falsity against him, we are challenging him to take us to the Independent Media Commission where we will further expose his dubious actions last weekend. We will expose how JJ Blood disrespectfully and most viciously ensured the Voters List was torn off the walls of the Party Headquarters last Saturday July 23rd 2011 after the SLPP’s Independent Electoral Board had hung it up. Why did he do that if he now claims only the Electoral Board has the mandate to publicise the List? Why Mr. Saffa? Why did you have the List provided by the Electoral Board, torn off the Party’s Notice Board? Please explain.

More Tears soon from Sama Banya in Sierra Leone
Now, in reaction to his latest 'defence' of Sama Banya, I have dismissed his sanctimonious nonsense as it lacks credibility but let me now challenge him to be less cowardly and more of a brave and credible writer on another of his issues he raised via ‘pulling hints’ like a cowardly, yellow-bellied sissy. Mr. Ibrahim Sourie Mansaray, if you have intestinal fortitude (i.e: guts), please increase your credibility by naming the Publisher, alongside the cited publications in which Bu-Buakei Jabbi’s personality was attacked by the Publisher because your un-named Publisher saw the Court issue as an attack on the Chairman of the party, John Benjamin. I hope you, Ibrahim Sourie Mansaray, do so soonest with facts and dates of such publication for your own good as a credible writer who should be taken seriously.

A Look at Series of Articles by Awareness Times on Bu-Buakei Jabbi versus SLPP
In the wake of the ongoing Supreme Court Battle between Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the SLPP and one of its members, Dr. Bu-Buakei Jabbi, pundits have expressed grave concerns over the fate of the country’s multi-party democracy, as it is widely believed that this matter has the propensity to destabilize the country’s main opposition party if not handled with wisdom, responsible pragmatism and maturity... This is not a matter of ‘Elections’. If the matter was only concerning Elections and did not seek to have the SLPP de-registered, banned and all its properties seized under Sections 27 and 29 of the PPRC Act of 2002, then since the lower-level Elections have all been 100% conducted with no more petitions remaining anywhere, why is the case still in front of the Supreme Court?
