Airtel SL wishes to inform the public that certain perception about their internet service is wrong. Users should be aware that even when their phones are idle as long as it is connected to the internet it will attract charges based on automatic updates Usually devices such as iphone, ipad, tablets, Samsung, HTC etc come with preinstalled software (map, weather services, location updates, skype, antivirus, itunes, etc) which require good internet connectivity and when it is available via SIM, it automatically connects to internet without user intervention/knowledge.

BREWERY DONATES WARDS AND KITCHEN TO THE LION HEART HOSPITAL IN TONKOLILI
Sierra Leone Brewery Limited (SLBL) has joined forces with the Lion Heart Foundation in Yele, Gbonkolenken Chiefdom, Tonkolili District to upgrade the current Medical Centre into a fully functional Hospital. One part of the Brewery’s CSR strategies is to intermediate in obtaining donations from its international shareholders’ funds, to help strengthen the quality of health services in Sierra Leone. The funds for the Lion Heart Hospital project have been obtained from Heineken’s Africa Foundation.

DIVESTITURE OF GOVERNMENT SHARES IN SALCAB
The Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) has received a loan of US$31 million from the International Development Association (IDA) to finance its contribution to the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) submarine cable which guarantees a share of the capacity in the submarine cable. The ACE submarine cable system will cover 17,000 km and provides access to more than 23 countries with a planned capacity of 1.9 Terabit per second. The project support forms part of the West Africa Regional Communications Infrastructure Program (WARCIP).

ACC wins “Award of Excellence”
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Sierra Leone is proud to announce that it has won the “Award of Excellence” in the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) Public Service Announcement Video Competition. The contest, which was organized by IAACA, the global umbrella body of Anti-Corruption Commissions/Authorities, was held in Hong Kong from the 7th to 9th December 2011. The ACC won the coveted “Award of Excellence” out of 29 entries from 21 countries. The occasion was attended by over 200 delegates from 30 countries and representatives from international organizations.
