Koroma not announcing a Running-Mate Soon... and it will certainly not be Keifala Marah
Sources close to President Koroma have now intimated this medium that President Koroma has “absolutely no intention” of naming his current Chief of Staff, Keifala Marah to be his running-mate for the November 2012 Elections. The very thought of Marah as running-mate was heartily laughed off by our very capable sources who assured that though Marah was seen as a highly trusted technocrat by the President, “Marah is certainly not seen as a politician by the President”.

In Sierra Leone, Unprecedented Event as President Koroma Commissions 40 Buses
It was an epoch-making event at the National Stadium yesterday 2nd February 2012 when, according to the Chairman of the National Privatisation Commission, for the first time in the history of Sierra Leone, the country was seeing forty brand new buses being purchased by the Government to serve the people as commercial means of transportation. The buses which were bought with funds provided by the Government of Sierra Leone through the Sierra Leone Roads Transport Corporation (SLRTC) were officially commissioned by President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.

Umaru Fofana to assist Sierra Leone Police with “Photographic Evidence”
The Sierra Leone Police has called on Mr. Umaru Fofana, BBC Stringer and President of the country’s journalists’ association who doubles as acting Editor of a local tabloid, to provide them with the photograph he claims exists which shows Hon. Tunde Lewally hitting the hand of Councillor-Elect Mohamed Kanu-Mansaray. It can be recalled that Fofana in a publication this week accused the police of having been questioned for not going out to arrest Hon. Tunde Lewally despite, according to Fofana’s report, “persistent allegations with some photographic evidence that Lewally had hit with a chair and broken the arm of the opposition councillor-elect”.

Easmon Ngakui disowns Kalilu Totangi’s Quotes in New People¦Unity Website Publication
Easmon N. B. Ngakui Esq., the primary National Legal Adviser of the main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) has yesterday February 2nd 2012, informed that he was seriously misquoted in a recent article published locally and globally around the world by one Kalilu Totangi, an SLPP member currently based in North America. Explaining himself, the erudite lawyer confirmed that indeed over the past weekend, he received a phone call from Totangi requesting for information about the incident involving the SLPP’s Councillor-Elect Mohamed Kanu-Mansaray and other party members. He also confirmed speaking to Totangi but however denied each and every single one of the specific quotes attributed to him as having been spoken out against this writer, who doubles as the Publisher of the Awareness Times.

As his Chiefdom Speaker Declares for APC Hon. Konouwa Canvasses for SLPP in Lower Bambara
The Hon. Member of Parliament of Constituency 14 representing the opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), Francis Amara Konouwa has called on his chiefdom people to embrace SLPP as they approach the 2012 general elections this November. His call comes in the wake of the open declaration for the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) of a key stakeholder in his constituency, Chiefdom Speaker of Lower Bambara, Chief Amara Gando. Hon.Konouwa made this call at the Saama Town Court Barry past Thursday when addressing chiefdom authorities concerning the recent defection, from SLPP to APC, of the chiefdom speaker.

In Sierra Leone, City Council Workers Storm State House
Workers of the Freetown City Council (FCC) on Wednesday 1st February 2012 held a peaceful demonstration at State House in Freetown, to register their frustration over issues affecting their welfare and also to invite President Koroma’s immediate attention to these burning issues. Some of the burning issues highlighted by the workers include, but not limited to, non-payment of salaries. The chanting demonstrators stormed State House displaying placards with printed wordings expressing their grievances.
