Following its taking over of Procredit Bank, the Managing Director for Ecobank Sierra Leone, Mr. Clement Dodoo has assured former staff of Procredi Bank that they have no intention of relieving off duty any of them, but hasten to assure them that they will be retained as Ecobank staff. He made the statement while addressing pressmen on Monday 8th March 2010 at the Bank Sierra Leone Complex, Kingtom in Freetown in a press briefing summoned to announcing the taking over of Procredit Bank by Ecobank.
According to Mr. Dodoo, all Procredit Bank customers can now transact their business with both Ecobank and Procredit Bank under one umbrella,
"We are not changing the business structure of Procredit Bank. The business of Ecobank will be included in the business of Procredit Bank and also the business of Procredit Bank will be included in the business of a Procredit Bank " the MD assured Customers.
He further explained that Ecobank customers will soon benefit from micro finance loan which has been ongoing in Procredit Bank. Mr, Dodoo also maintained that with the take over, it will help the bank to have a wider coverage not only in Freetown but the entire country,
In his statement, the Managing Director for Procredit Bank Sierra Leone, Mr, Andis Radloff said they partner with Ecobank because they do not have a very large capital to compete in the market, He said Procredit Ban has been doing very well since they started operation in August 2007, stating that that they have been the first Sierra Leone based bank to give micro finance to their customers.
The Managing Director went on that Procredit Bank is very reliable, adding that it is presently operating in twenty-one countries around the world. He assured that there will be no interruption in their service and also informed their customers to be confident in all their transactions with the bank. Mr. Radloff also assured his staff that they will not be sacked. The Acting Director, Banking Supervision in the Bank of Sierra Leone Tapsiru Denkeh said as controllers they will monitor the transaction of the two banks so that they can work in the best interest of their customers, adding that they are very concern about the people's money
