SLPP Chairperson dies in Bo
The chairperson of the Sierra Leone People's Party Bo Branch. Madam Adama Idriss is reported passed away. According to reports, the only SLPP female district chairperson died after a protracted illness in Bo. Madam Idriss was a very strong and outstanding SLPP chairperson whom the party relied on a lot.
Swaziland ACC Team visit Sierra Leone
A delegation from the Swaziland Anti Corruption Commission has reportedly visited the Anti Corruption Commission in Sierra Leone. According to reports, the main purpose of the visit is to familiarize and also learn from the experience of the Anti Corruption Commission in Sierra Leone. Reports say, Swaziland ACC intends to build a very strong relationship with ACC Sierra Leone in a bid to share information and experience.
Sierra Leonean homes looted in Liberian
Local tabloids have it that, the Sierra Leone refugees who opted for resettlement in Liberia have had their new homes looted. According to reports some unknown persons entered the newly constructed houses meant for former Sierra Leoneans at Sinje and looted away property worth millions and building materials meant for additional construction.
Fambul Tok to hold more Meetings
Reports say, a face to face community owned and leading Reconciliation program Fambul Tok has planned a series of activities in the Kailahun, Moyamba, Kono and Koinadugu Districts. According to reports, Fambul Tok conducts their activities through confession, forgiveness and reconciliation using tradition process. Reports say, another initiative programme will also be held which will be aimed at creating wider forum where women in various communities can meet and discuss freely on issues affecting them.
Grammar School turns sod for new blocks
Administration, members of the Parent Teachers Association and alumni of the Sierra Leone Grammar School, have reportedly, laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new classroom 'block at the school campus in Freetown. According to reports, the building will be having a store, class rooms, Library and computer room to improve the standard of learning. Reports further revealed that, the school is the oldest in West Africa built in 1845 by Christian Missionary Society.
Parliament clerks received certificates
20 new parliamentary clerks and researchers recently recruited by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) have reportedly received certificates. According to reports, the clerks and researchers were trained by the Clerk of Parliament. Reports say, the House of Parliament formerly had only 7 clerks who were covering 23 Oversight Committees. This limited number however used to hamper the work of Parliament.
Fuel shortage hits Freetown
It has been reported that, there is an acute shortage of fuel in the capital Freetown. According to reports, vehicles are now joining a queue in the few petrol stations still with fuel for sale, Reports further alleged that, fuel marketers are now hoarding fuel in expectation of making a fat profit selling it at blackmarket price.
168 workers to be sacked
Local tabloids have alleged that following police investigation in recent fraud, 168 workers of the NRA and customs are going to be sacked. According to reports, the decision came in the wake of President Koroma's anger against corruption in the country, Reports say, some of his party members are not happy.
