37 years old Dauda Kallon, a politician and youth activist in Western Area has intimated Awareness Times of his desire this morning to hand over a request to the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Transparency & Accountability, Hon. Ibrahim Bundu in which Kallon will be calling on Bundu to require the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Boss, Abdul Tejan Cole to clear the air on numerous non-transparent and non-accountable issues by and at the ACC which have been puzzling citizens.
"In spirit of transparency and accountability, Abdul Tejan-Cole should be forced to clear the air on the alleged abuse of his office that he has been severally accused of. So far, he has been treating citizens with contempt when these issues are raised," Kallon asserted in a no-nonsense mood.
Kallon says his Open Letter to Abdul Tejan-Cole & his Sworn Affidavit will be handed over to Hon. Ibrahim Bundu first thing this morning in Parliament. See copy of Letter & Affidavit on Page 11.
According to Kallon, it had been his intention to call up a press conference today Monday on the issue of a suspicious conversation he says he overheard between Fish Magnate Mrs. Lillian Lisk and her husband, Mr. Melvin Lisk but he says, on second thoughts and from past experience, he seriously doubts if Mr. Tejan-Cole will succumb to public agitation for clarity in the matter so instead, he is now going to formally ask the Parliamentary Committee on Transparency & Accountability to raise up the issues with Mr. Tejan-Cole and force him to respond to them.
Amongst issues that have lately been deeply bothering a lot of concerned citizens are the handling of the ongoing investigation of Hon. Haja Afsatu Kabba, Minister of Fisheries & Marine Resources as well as contemporary issues such as the employment status of ACC’s Director of Investigations & Prosecutions, Glenna Thompson whose Department needlessly sent armed policemen to Hon. Kabba’s house to pick up her husband and sons.
It will be recalled that last week, Abdul Tejan-Cole went to Parliament to publicise his proposed Memorandum of Understanding with Parliament that he sought to sign with the Chairman of the Transparency & Accountability Committee, Hon. Ibrahim Bundu. Awareness Times tried to contact Hon. Bundu but he was reported to be away in Gbinti but expected back in Freetown this morning.
Attempts to contact Abdul Tejan-Cole proved unfruitful as he was reported to be in Segbwema, Kailahun. Similarly, attempts to interview Madam Lilian Lisk were abortive as she refused to comment on the affidavit.
