A local non governmental organization called Hope and New Life Health Care Sierra Leone has disclosed plans to construct an ultra-modern private hospital in the Urban Rural District of Sierra Leone.
This disclosure was made by the Country Representative for Hope and New Life Health Care Sierra Leone, Mr. Vivian John, whilst addressing residents of the mountain village of Mortaim in the Mountain Rural District, and it environs, during the official launching of the project over the weekend.
Mr. Vivian John told residents that Hope and New Life Health Care is a non governmental organization that gears towards the provision of free and adequate medical facilities to needy and less privileged Sierra Leoneans.
According to him, the organization has offered free and adequate medical services to thousands of people from various communities in the country. He added that the organization has been providing free treatment and medication to patients with different ailments including high blood pressure, malaria and heart diseases, for over two years now.
He disclosed that the organization is of the belief that it’s high time for the construction of an ultra-modern private hospital. "For this venture, the organization deemed it fit that the hospital should be constructed at the Mortaim village" he emphasized, adding that the construction work will commence anytime soon.
The hospital, he went on, will be providing free medical and medication to all patients.
On behalf of the community, Councilor Margaret Kargbo thanked the organization for such a laudable venture. According to her, the mountain rural district has been deprived of basic facilities including hospital, market, and recreational center among other.
"Before now, pregnant women and seriously sick people were being transported on wheelbarrows to the Regent village, in order to board vehicles for the central town where hospitals are located" she explained, adding that: "The construction of the hospital will definitely save the problems of the people".
The Minister of Lands, Country Planning, and the Environment, Dr. Denis Sandy, assured of government’s support towards the project, adding that the government is all willing to donate state land to the organization for the construction of the hospital.
