The Office of the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone has assured that First Lady Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma, will not only grace the funeral ceremony of Sierra Leone’s first First Lady (the late Mrs Gladys Okoro-Cole), but will also view the corpse in a show of honour to the late woman.
The late Mrs. Gladys Okoro-Cole, who passed away on Tuesday 26th January 2010 after spending almost nine decades of subsidiary life on earth, would be laid to rest in Freetown today Friday 5th January 2010 after a memorial service at the St. Patricks Church in Kissy at 2:30pm.
"The news of the death of Mrs. Okoro-Cole was received with sadness by the First Lady Sia Nyama Koroma, and she has faithfully promised to attend the funeral service and witness the internment of the country’s first First Lady" Public Relations Officer in the Office of the First Lady told the Awareness Times yesterday Thursday 4th February 2010.
Meanwhile, in honour of the late woman, a Book of Condolence has been signed by the Friendship Movement of the Elderly and Retired at a ceremony that took place at the Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) in Brookfields. She had been an active pioneer of the movement.
The late Mrs. Gladys Okoro-Cole was the wife of the first President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, the late Justice C.O.E. Cole. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
