President Ernest Bai Koroma accompanied by a strong contingent of APC stalwarts, yesterday stormed the southern and eastern cities of Bo and Kenema respectively as part of his four days visit to that part of the country.
The President’s first stop was made in Bo, where he had lunch with Paramount Chiefs of the Southern Region; inspected the Bo Stadium Complex and later departed for Kenema.
In Kenema, President Koroma officially reopened the rehabilitated APC Office in Kenema; inspected the Kenema City Council Building site and joined Kenema residents at the Capitol Bar and Restaurant, in an official dinner and dance held in his honour.
In his statement, President Ernest Bai Koroma said: "I do not believe in politicking. All I consider is good work and dedication aimed at developing the country".
He assured residents of Kenema of his government’s commitment towards developing the Dodo Hydro Electricity Dam, so that it could be capacitated to supply neighboring communities.
He called on residents to put party politics aside and implement strategies that will develop the county.
Speaking on behalf of the Kenema City Council, Mayor Brima Kargbo assured the President of a befitting hospitality throughout his entire stay in Kenema, whilst highlighting the several challenges faced by the people including lack of school furniture.
He also called on the President to take immediate steps in kick-start the Town Hall Project.
The President’s entourage which includes Cabinet Ministers, Parliamentarians, and members of the Women’s Wing of the All People’s Congress (APC) including the Wing’s dynamic Vice President Madam Makalay Koroma, is expected to depart Kenema this morning for Kailahun.
