One of the international leading telecommunication companies, Zain, operating in the Middle East and Africa, has been very proactive and vehemently working towards promoting quality education for it Africa operative communities.
Since the establishment of the telecommunication company, many unique initiatives have been introduced to enhance quality and standard education for Africa pupils and students.
For instance, in the history of African education, students representing Anglophone universities have never assembled. Yet, Zain has created an avenue where these students can meet yearly in an international championship festival dubbed as the Zain African Challenge (ZAC).
The ZAC quiz competition started four years ago and currently 32 universities representing 8 Anglophone countries are participating in this year’s international championship festival holding in Kampala, Uganda. Over one million United States Dollars is being spent by Zain for this competition’s success yearly.
As if the unique initiative of ZAC is not enough, Zain is also funding education in its local operative communities by providing teaching and learning materials for schools, universities and students as well as pupils.
In the Sierra Leone operative area, some deprived and underprivileged schools are enjoying Zain school structures and other privileges. Universities have also received chairs, desks, dwelling materials, computers and internet facilities from Zain. Also in the area of customers education, Zain staff have always come to the door steps of it subscribers. Besides the television, radio, and newspapers education, thrilling float parades organized by some comedians and Zain staff always deliver proper and better understanding for the subscribers.
Zain staff believes that sharing the company’s profit with its local communities is of paramount importance. "Sharing our gains with where we operate is our first priority" said Zain CEO for Africa Chris Gabriel.
