The Interim Head of the African People Socialist party has said in Freetown that his party would soon be registered in Sierra Leone.
Chernor Alpha Bah made public this intention in a press briefing organized at the conference hall of the Sierra Leone News Agency (SLENA), Wallace Johnson Street in Freetown.
Mr. Bah told newsmen that Sierra Leone has suffered a lot over the past thirty years. According to him, the suffering of Sierra Leone is the direct course of certain politicians, who, he said, have succeeded in mismanaging the country’s resources for their selfish needs.
He said his party is determined to change the perception of Sierra Leoneans that it is only the All People’s Congress (APC) party and the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) that have a say in as much as governance in Sierra Leone is concerned.
He iterated the fact several other political parties have democratically battled out with the SLPP and SLPP, but all their efforts have so far proved abortive.
Chernor Bah said it is no secret that Sierra Leone will never be transformed under the present system of governance in the country, whilst calling on all and sundry to support what he described as the people workers party which is the socialist movement.
The Interim Leader disclosed that his party has formed an interim executive that will embark on massive awareness raising campaigns all over the country. The campaign, according to Bah, will focus on spreading the message and desire to change the country to a better state.
He highlighted further that 83% of the people who voted during the 2007 presidential and parliamentary elections are youth. According to him, this signifies that under the socialist movement, the youths will participate effectively as they are accorded the opportunity to vote and be voted for without discrimination.
He said governments have continued to fail the people of this country in succession.
"Our movement is aimed at liberating Sierra Leone from it sufferings," he pointed out, adding: "It will also ensure that the country achieves its actual independence".
