The Government and people of Germany have downplayed the All People’s Congress (APC) led Government of Sierra Leone’s "Agenda for Change" to the extent that the Germans have vowed not to support President Koroma’s Agenda for Change until the issue of the treatment of Sierra Leonean women is revisited with the seriousness it deserves.

This was the position of Germany during the final day in the investment forum organized jointly by the Government of Sierra Leone and the former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair in London.

The Representative of Germany at the conference emphatically pointed out that the German government might consider supporting Sierra Leone in the future, if the government implements policies to improve the status of women and to also stop what they termed as "Female Genital Mutilation".

The German Representative at the Meeting therefore advised the Government of Sierra Leone to double up efforts in promoting women’s issues in the country.

Notwithstanding Germany's bombshell, several other organizations and countries have assured the Ernest Bai Koroma led government of their continued support. Among the numerous donors who pledged their support for Sierra Leone during yesterday’s Consultative Group meeting were the European Union, DFID, UNIPSIL, World Bank, IFAD and the African Development Bank.
