Sierra Leone’s Youth Ambassador, Anthony Navo (Jnr) has recently succeeded in bridging the differences between the newly elected President of Young Leaders of Sierra Leone (YLSL) and the President of the National Youth Coalition (NYC).
The meeting was held at the head office of the National Youth Coalition, Forth Street in Freetown.
In his mediation statement, Youth Ambassador Anthony Navo (Jnr) spoke lengthily on the need for youth organizations across the country to come together as work as a vibrant and unified force.
He said it will spell doom of the youths in the country are divided in various sectors and camps. According to him, division of youths will give politicians the leeway to use and misuse them.
Mr. Navo emphasized that YLSL and NYC should be seen working as partners in order to further the objectives of the youths of the country.
He also used the forum as an opportunity to advise the newly elected President for YLSL to be prepared to collaborate with the general membership.
For him, President of YLSL, Mr. Unisa Dizo Conteh commended the Youth Ambassador for his role in uniting Sierra Leonean youths, adding that he was elated to meet the Presidents of NYC.
He reiterated that politicians are granted the opportunity to use the youths for their selfish gains, if the youths are not united.
He said the country will speedily develop if the youths are focused and united.
Mr. Conteh expressed his willingness to pay a familiarization visit to all existing youth organizations in the country, in order to explore the possibility of collaboration towards the advancement of the course of the youths.
President of the National Youth Coalition (NYC), Mr. Al-Sankoh Conteh said he wholeheartedly welcome the new YLSL President to the struggle of the youths in the country.
He explained that there has been a misunderstanding between his executive and the past YLSL executive. He however expressed happiness that the new YLSL administration will mark a new era.
He advised that the number one focus of all organizations in the country should be the welfare of youths.
Mr. Conteh assure of his commitment to collaborate with the YLSL in all spheres.
The Director of Communications, YLSL, Mr. Mohamed Murtala Kamara revealed that this is the first visit of their presidents to Sierra Leone since his election as President of Young Leaders Sierra Leone.
He added that the new president is ready to work with other organizations for the progress of the youths in particular and the country as a whole.
